Dr. Seuss Dress-Up Day

Lesson for the day: It is very hard not to be silly when you're sporting pig tails and your principal has blue hair.

After a hard day of working in our stores, we went outside to enjoy the weather. Can you believe this is March? A big thanks to Lydia and Ella who treated us to ice cream and lemonade!

Marketplace 2012!
On Friday March 23rd, Third graders had the grand opening of their first "Marketplace". Kindergarten, first and second grade classes were invited. Customers also included staff members, parents, and grandparents. Items for sale included pottery, Whapper pets, original art, dog biscuits, pot holders, Jelly Bellies, shells, cookies, brownies, and lemon bars. Students will take what they learned from this experience and hold a second marketplace for the upper grades. Great work entrepreneurs!

Leprechaun Visit

It was a mellow year for the leprechauns in third grade.
They didn't leave any confetti or silly string. The tables didn't get turned over and nothing was out of place. Needless to say, the kids were a tad disappointed... Some kids were so bummed, they couldn't even face the camera...especially Evan...(yes, that was one of Mrs. Mayer's not so funny jokes...)

Jarod was so saddened by the lack of disaster, he took a random nap.

The disappointment didn't last long (how could it with these silly kids?)
Before you knew it, grade three was rockin' their awesome hats!

Have I mentioned how fantastic these kids are? They never fail to make me smile. I love my job!

BAILEY VISITS THE CLASSROOM!
Chihuahuas are not always easy dogs. They can be extremely nervous and are often afraid of strangers. My dogs especially. That is why I have never brought them into school, until yesterday. I knew that if there was ever going to be a time for a school visit, it would have to be with this class. After all, half the kids wrote that seeing my dogs was one of their big goals for third grade! The visit (although short) could not have gone any better. The kids were so quiet, caring, and gentle.  Bailey had a great time! She was wagging her tail and going from one student to the next. She even "danced" on her hind legs. This may not seem like a big deal to those of you that have normal dogs... but for my crazed chihuahua, it was huge!!!!

Bailey searches everyone's hands for chicken treats!

On Thursday the third graders read their short stories to the Kindergarten.  The books were unique because the main character literally moved from one page to another by going through a little slot in each page. Kids were able to choose the setting and character.  Our moving characters included trucks, dragons (of course!), dogs, owls, many more.

On Monday February 27th, the 3rd graders finally got to go skiing! A big thank you to all the parents who drove. We had a wonderful time.

Lydia, Clara, and Olivia try out Lena's signature pose.

Yep. You knew it was coming... the famous Lena pose!
